Mr Paul Hattam
Paul is a physiotherapist based in private practice in Sheffield, UK. He has many years of clinical experience having also worked in the NHS in an advanced practitioner role.
Ms Alison Smeatham
Alison is an Extended Scope Practitioner working at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital. Her main clinical interest is anything ‘hippy’ but particularly the treatment of young adults with hip pain.
Mrs Emily Goodlad
Emily is the Course Principal of the Membership & Advanced SOMM modules. Emily is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, with special interests in knees, tendinopathy and clinical reasoning.
Mr Johnny Smith
Johnny has been part of the SOMM teaching team since 2007 and did his MSc with SOMM in 2008. He used to work as an Extended Scope Practitioner and specialised in hips, knees and hands.
Dr Elaine Atkins
MSK physiotherapist Elaine has a doctorate in ‘orthopaedic medicine education’ and has been awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. She is currently MSc Programme Leader and co-authored the course textbook ‘A Practical Approach to Musculoskeletal Medicine’.
Dr Bob Smith
Bob has worked as a full time NHS GP in Galashiels, a town in the Scottish Borders, since 1985. He became a Fellow of the Society in 2003 and teaches on the Membership and Injection Therapy modules.
Mr Chris Shannon
Chris is a very experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist working privately in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. He has many years clinical and teaching experience both in the military and in the NHS.
Dr David Knott
David is an experienced doctor who has been teaching with SOMM for the last 20 years. Based in Dorset, David’s particular interests are injection therapy, both spinal and peripheral.
Dr Duncan Reid
Duncan qualified in Medicine 1987 at Edinburgh University and has worked as a GP in Colinton SW Edinburgh since 1991. A passionate football fan he became club Dr to Hibernian FC in 1998.
Mr Gianpiero Capra
Gianpiero works in private practices both in Milano and Lugano in Switzerland. He is a Senior Lecturer for the Physiotherapy Bachelor in Lugano Switzerland for SUPSI.
Mr Gordon Smith
Gordon works as a Physiotherapy Team Leader employed by an NHS Trust covering two community hospitals. He has previously worked in the USA and New Zealand.
Mr Graeme Searle
Graeme Searle is a physiotherapist based in the NHS in North Hampshire. He has worked in a variety of settings within the NHS, private practice and local sports.
Dr Kirsten Ness
Kirsten is a tutor for the SOMM Membership Course, and her main role is as a GP and doctor in private sports clinic in Edinburgh. Her main area of MSK expertise is injection therapy.
Mr Nick Worth
Nick currently works as a Consultant Physiotherapist and as an ESP Physiotherapist in a variety of locations around the North West, and teaches extensively both in the UK and abroad.
Mr Ramesh Vaswani
Ramesh Vaswani has a private practise of Physiotherapy in Switzerland and has been involved with SOMM since 1992 & takes great pleasure in teaching the concept of Dr. Cyriax.
Dr Sharon Chan-Braddock
Sharon is a musculoskeletal Specialist Physiotherapist in the NHS. Her clinical interests include injection therapy, complex spinal disorder & chronic back pain. Sharon is a tutor for the SOMM membership & Injection Therapy courses.
Mrs Christine Williams
Christine is our Society Administrator, helping to run SOMM with her colleagues. She lives in Liverpool with husband Paul and daughter Sophie.
Ms Joanna Cheetham
Joanna has been in Finance & Administration with SOMM since October 2015, when she moved to Liverpool after meeting her partner – she loves the city life!
